Environment:
A cafe that puts the tacky in tachyon, must visit for the science nerds, Chemistry Cafe + Lab! Conveniently located just less than one kilometre away from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Chemistry Cafe provides a cool hangout spot for the technology savvy UiTM students.

Chemistry Cafe introduces good coffee to the people of Seksyen 7, Shah Alam, an area that is still pretty quiet in terms of their coffee scene. To cater to their target market - the UiTM students, Chemistry Cafe opens pass midnight to provide students with an alternative spot to burn the midnight oil besides the usual mamak.
Science apparatus around Chemistry Cafe. |
Being a themed cafe, Chemistry Cafe has lots of funky science apparatus placed around the cafe, such as graduated cylinders, retort stands, and test tubes. Baristas are all dressed in lab coats to enhance the cafe's theme. Students that have forgotten their periodic table can refer to the one hanged on the wall.
Cozy cafe with warm yellow lights. White and brown sugar served in syringes (left middle). |
Luckily, Chemistry Cafe does not have a serious and tense ambiance like those in labs. Yellow dim lights and brick walls keep the environment in Chemistry Cafe cozy and comfortable.
Science related drawings on the wall. |
Botany, or plant biology is part of science too. Patrons will notice plants placed in basins and volumetric flasks near the entrance of the cafe where there is sunlight penetrating through the glass windows. Care to refresh your science knowledge on what photosynthesis is? :)

Since this is a science themed cafe, you won't be surprise if guys use some of Howard Wolowitz's (from TV series Big Bang Theory) pick up lines, such as:
- Are you an exothermic reaction? Because you are hot!
- Are you Copper plus Tellurium? Because you are CuTe!
- You are the Higgs Boson particle of my life. Because without you, my universe wouldn't "matter".
If you don't understand these pick up lines, you aren't studying hard enough. :P
Food & Beverage:
Besides the usual espresso based coffee, you would want to try Chemistry Cafe's ice blended beverages, they are all served in volumetric flasks! White and brown sugar are kept in syringes too. Kids who hate science, have you fell in love with science again? :)
The Bomb Chiller - Ice Blended Mocha (left), Chocolate Chunky (middle), and Lady Boss - Chocolate Macadamia Latte (right). |
Chemistry Cafe serves a variety of cooked food, such as rice dishes, pastas, lasagnas, and pies. For desserts, cakes, muffins, and waffles are available for you to 'experiment' on. :)
Beef Pot Pie (top right), Boston Cheese (bottom left), and Chocolate Lava (bottom right). |
Verdict:
Chemistry Cafe kick starts the Shah Alam coffee scene with an interesting themed concept - science. Being conveniently located nearby UiTM, Chemistry Cafe provides a unique spot for students to hangout, keeping this education hub exciting and alive.
