Where do you go for coffee and food after hours of book reading? The Bites Cafe :) Located right next to Library La Biblioteca at the main entrance of The Trillium at Lake Fields, Sungai Besi and few doors away from the famous Sungai Besi hipster cafe, Abah & Sons Motocafe, The Bites Cafe is easy to spot with its bright yellow signboard.
Yellow - The color of The Bites Cafe.
If the yellow signboard isn't a clear enough indicator, look for the shop lot with checkered artificial grass at the entrance. Tables are available outdoor for smokers, watching cars drive past the quiescent residential area.
Kitchen processes are visible from the lounge area.
The kitchen is walled with glass windows, making the kitchen processes visible from the lounge area. This proves that The Bites Cafe emphasizes its kitchen's cleanliness by making sure its kitchen processes are transparent to the patrons. :)
The many faces you can find in The Bites Cafe.
The many portraits and posters hanging along the walls of The Bites Cafe is this cafe's famous trait (these are no cheap posters, mind you!). Also, the back area has been setup to be a mini playground for the kids, with artificial grass and two very real-looking bear bean bags (very pricey too, so kids, be gentle!).
Don't wake the bear!

Food & Beverage:
The Bites Cafe serves a wide variety of breakfast bites, including western omelette, French toast, and croissant, to Malaysian nasi lemak, Italian pizza, Mexican burritos, and Japanese curry chicken.
The Malaysian - Nasi Lemak with ayam goreng, hard-boiled egg, acar, cucumber, sambal (left top),
Salmon Wrap (left bottom),
Grill Chicken & Waffle Sandwich - grilled chicken, sauteed mushroom, melted cheese, mushroom sauce (right top),
Eggs Benedict - smoked salmon or beef bacon, sauteed spinach, hollandaise sauce, toast, salad (right middle),
The Italian - breakfast frittata with turkey ham, onion spinach, cherry tomato and eggs (right bottom).
For coffee, all the usual espresso based are available, including the flavored lattes (vanilla, hazelnut, caramel). Non-caffeines are juices, smoothies, milkshake and even beers.
Mocha (top) and Cappuccino (bottom).
The Bites Cafe makes full use of its waffles machine, serving both savory and sweet waffles. Savory waffles include those added with scrambled eggs and mushrooms, beef bacons, or chicken breast; and sweet waffles are the ones added with gula melaka flavored ice cream.
Desser Waffle topped with Gula Melaka Ice Cream (top), The Last Polka Ice Cream - Guinness and Pandan Kaya flavored (bottom).
Besides sweet waffles, ice creams are available here too, made by The Last Polka - KL's homemade ice cream, combination of creamy French-style ice cream with the regional Asian flavours, made by two Malaysian ladies. Assorted cakes add on to The Bites Cafe's desserts list.
Affogato with Pandan Kaya Ice Cream (left top), Cakes (left bottom), and Cappuccino (right).

Verdict:
A cozy cafe serving reasonable range of dishes (including savory and sweet waffles) and cuppa joe. Good place for a quick bite before heading next door to Library La Biblioteca for some giggle juice.

  1. Lousiest café that I have ever been in my life.. we have waited for about an 1hr (still not yet come after 1hr & i cancelled the order in the end) for the breakfast & 30mins for the drinks..u know what? the shop attendant nvr came to apologize or state out the reason of late delivery of our order.

Not only that, people that came after us, get the order & yeah..they just sat right beside us..So, good luck for the super super BAD services & wish them good luck if they continue their business by serving customers based on their "preference" & NOT 'first comes first serves' basis

    1. I think your comment on the cafe a lil extreme and unfair. I live nearby and have been to the place for a few times. They are newly opened but the staff are trying their best to accommodate. I was once there with my family and they served the wrong order. My husband told them its ok and we will just take what has been served. The chef came out to apologize personally to us and give our kid an ice cream! We love the food there. The ambience was awesome for our young ones.
